DropWar

Rust Guarded Airdrop Plugin for Oxide & Carbon

Scientist guards appear round every airdrop the moment it lands. Kill them before you can loot it. Guards, guns and distances set in game, seven languages.

new Carbon Oxide v0.3.3 Updated

Overview

DropWar turns every airdrop into a fight. The moment a supply drop touches the ground, a ring of scientist guards appears round it, and they shoot anyone who comes for it. The crate stays locked until every guard is dead.

Guards that stand in sensible places

Each guard's spot is found by looking straight down from the sky, so a guard always stands on top of the ground. It is never under it, inside a rock or down a cave. A spot is only used if it is:

  • open ground or a low rock, and not too steep
  • within a few metres up or down of the drop, so a drop on a hilltop keeps its guards on the top, not at the foot of the cliff
  • dry, with no sea, river or lake
  • clear of trees, rocks and buildings above head height
  • out of every safe zone, and spaced apart from the other guards

A drop with little room gets fewer guards. One that lands in the sea may get none.

A real fight

Guards chase whoever attacks them, out to a distance you set (60 m by default), and then go back to their posts. You can switch chasing off so they hold their ground. A toast tells the killer and anyone nearby how many are down ("3 of 6 guards killed"). When the last one falls, the killer and their team are told the drop is yours.

Guards that are left alone leave a while after their drop is looted, or once it has stood unclaimed for the set time (30 minutes by default).

Set it up your way

The /dropwar panel has three tabs:

  • GUARDS: how many guards each drop gets, the default scientist kind, and a list of loadouts. Pick each loadout's scientist kind, gun and ammunition from pictures, and give it a weight. Only ammunition that fits the gun is offered.
  • SETTINGS: every setting as a stepper or a switch, applied at once.
  • DROPS: every drop being guarded now, how many guards are left, a button to go there, and buttons to clear it. TEST DROP drops a crate beside you so you can watch it work.

Random airdrops and supply signal drops can each be switched on or off.

Survives restarts

Guarded drops are saved. After a reload or a restart, the guards still standing are put back round their crate with their guns, and the drop keeps the time it had left.

Languages

English, Russian, German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Simplified Chinese are built in. Each player sees their own game language.

Every download is licensed to you and watermarked with your details.

Install

  1. Download DropWar.cs from My Plugins.
  2. Drop it into oxide/plugins or carbon/plugins.
  3. Grant the admin permission to whoever will set it up (server admins can use it anyway):
o.grant user <name> dropwar.admin

On Carbon use c.grant instead of o.grant. Players need no permission.

  1. That is all. The next airdrop that lands gets guards. Type /dropwar in game to change the guards and their guns, or press TEST DROP on the DROPS tab to see it straight away.

The file name must stay DropWar.cs, because Oxide matches it to the class name.

The config is written to oxide/config/DropWar.json (or carbon/configs/DropWar.json) on first load. Everything in it can be changed from the /dropwar panel.
